ALO Yoga was the most concentrated sales environment that I’ve been in and I’m extremely grateful that I was able to have that experience. ALO Yoga is a luxury athleisure brand that prides themselves on quality of products and employees. They promise a standard of care to customers that gives a personalized experience to every customer. Developing concrete selling points while also building a strong connection with the customer during their shopping time was my strongest trait at the company. I was usually based in the dressing rooms because of my strong people skills and ease with making people feel comfortable while customizing their new wardrobe. Every customer has different focuses that they target when coming into the store; it was my job to adapt my recommendations to each of their preferences. Maintaining the store's visuals throughout the day was also just as important because it promoted the luxury they were purchasing.
Positions such as this one depend on consistency of service quality for both the front desk and the service providers. However, it’s the receptionist’s job to be the first welcoming face that the client encounters. Your interaction with them could affect their appointment for the better or for the worst. Service providers want their clients to come back and become regulars. So maintaining a friendly composure will help keep a positive light on the spa and the providers. I did just as much retail as I did booking appointments. Aveda was primarily sold, but other medical grade lines were sold as well.
At restaurants, customers have a level of customer service expected; it’s the staff's job to bring a more elevated experience than what is assumed. People will be more inclined to come back if they are treated with care and kindness. There was always something to be done, from making sure customers are taken care of, to scheduling reservations, answering the phones, and helping out run food. You never know what might pop up, so being flexible and positive when adjusting to the new is of utmost priority.
