- Investigate the chemical composition of calcium oxalate-based biogenic rock coatings to identify trace organic biomarkers.
- Perform solvent extractions using hexanes and prepare analytical standards to validate compound identification.
- Utilize solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to separate and characterize organic compounds at trace levels.
- Interpret chromatographic and mass spectral data to distinguish target compounds from background contaminants.
