During the summers of 2024, 2025, and 2026, I worked as a lifeguard and a swim instructor at Ivy League Day Camp, making sure that campers and staff were safe while on the pool deck as well as providing swimming lessons to children of all ages and swim levels. Working at the camp helped to strengthen my teamwork and leadership skills as multiple lifeguards would often work together as a group. It also enhanced my communication and risk management skills as I would call out to other lifeguards and/or staff members about potential hazards.
As a volunteer baseball coach at North Shore Little League, I would work directly with 13-16-year-olds, helping them develop their overall baseball skills, as well as teamwork and strategy. I was in direct contact with parents and the players regarding the schedule of games, practices, and workouts. During games, I was active on and off the field, making sure team morale was high, and health was a priority.
As a crew member at McDonald's, I cleaned tables, made drinks, worked as a cashier, and did anything else needed for the best customer service possible. This job had multiple customer service opportunities in which I gained many different skills such as teamwork, multitasking, adaptability, and customer service skills.
While working at Brookhaven Country Day Camp, I would watch over children, take care of them, and play with them. I taught future third graders how to play certain sports, assisted lifeguards to teach the children to swim, and served them lunch every day. I also was a bus counselor in which I would make sure every child got on the bus who was scheduled to, take attendance before leaving the camp and on the way to the camp, and most importantly, made sure to keep the campers safe.
