While the position is listed as "Cashier" I actually performed in a multifaced position. I first began at 15, an age Hy-Vee doesn't usually hire at. I began as a Courtesy Clerk, bagging groceries and getting carts. I later graduated to a Cashier. As a Cashier, I performed monetary transactions, solving problems for customers and providing advice. Afterwards, I began opening every Saturday, beginning as cashiering and eventually moving to running the whole breakfast kitchen. In which I took orders, delivered food, cleaned and bussed tables, and checked customers out. In the meantime I was trained in Produce, most of Customer Service, and had partial training in Floral, Wine and Spirits, AOL, the Gas Station, Frozen, and Stocking or the back room. Through this I earned the respect of my peers and assistant managers, and was frequently looked to for advice by other cashiers. I also was trained on the new POS and was instructed to help other cashiers with their own problems in their use of it.
