Accomplishments

Co-founded "Shades of Excellence" mentorship program at Joliet Catholic Academy high school. Alongside the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, I assisted in the founding of this mentorship program for students of color at JCA. I formulated goals and expectations, mentor outreach, guidelines, mentor requirements, mentor and mentee orientation, and aided in the development of the code of conduct. In addition, I am also an active mentor within the program. I desired to turn my own experience into a dynamic change for students after me. I became an advocate for students of color and yearned to instill within students that discrimination of any kind is unacceptable, strengthen their confidence, and educate them on the proper manner to handle discriminatory behavior.
