  • Act as a resource to employees across six Ozaukee County ambulatory sites. Duties include training/orienting new employees and providing day-to-day work direction. Create monthly and weekly schedules utilizing Outlook. Assign, monitor, and review progress and accuracy of work, monitor productivity, maintain appropriate staffing levels and provide guidance on more complex issues.
  • Assist with human resource responsibilities including: interviewing and selecting new employee candidates, staff development, resolution of employee concerns/conflicts, and managing employee morale. Also assist in interpreting and implementing department policies, procedures, and advise staff on procedural changes.
  • Monitor, edit, and approve employee timecards using Symplr Workforce.
  • Monitor and coordinate the workflow of the department. This includes specimen collection, processing and ordering functions. Assist with inventory and maintaining supply levels.
  • Assist in the investigation of procedure and/or performance failures and aid in their resolution. Document appropriate information for quality assurance/improvement according to established protocol
  • Perform venipuncture and collect other specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol. Access ports for blood collection at the Oncology clinic. Process and batch all specimens to be sent to the performing labs.

  • Performed venipunctures on patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings per established protocol (averaged 400-600 patient draws per month). Performing this job throughout the entire hospital provided direct patient care experience with patients of not only all ages, but all conditions including trauma, post-operative, pre-operative, transplant, psychiatric, prisoners, long term care, and ICU patients. Performed Wisconsin Newborn Screens.
  • Utilized Epic and Cerner computer systems. Trained as an Epic "super-user" to assist others with Epic related problems and to train employees when updates were made within Epic. Clerical work also performed when registering patients for lab appointments in the outpatient clinics.
  • Collaborated with leadership as a peer interviewer and being part of the process improvement team where we tested new products and developed ways to improve workflow.
