My name is Kace Prather I am 20 years old. I am currently living in Chickasha, OK, but am in the process of moving to Edmond, OK. I just recently graduated with my associate degree, and I am now attending The University of Central Oklahoma. I will be getting my bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences. I plan to get my master’s degree in counseling. I am very outgoing and have always been able to communicate and connect with others easily no matter the circumstances. I have served in the kid’s ministry at my church for many years, been a leader at multiple different youth and children’s camps and currently lead a women small group at my church. I was a student ambassador at Redlands Community college while also being on the president’s honor roll during my time there. I am a strong leader who is passionate about helping others, pushing them to be successful, and be their best self. I bond well with any age, but I feel more called to help children and have always worked best with them. From the time I was 15 I have worked with children of all ages and with different disabilities. In 2018 I started babysitting for Carrie Boggess. She has two children Kenna and Keaton. Keaton has ADHD, anxiety, and severe autism. During my time babysitting these two I have been able to divide my time fairly between the two meeting each of their needs. I assist them in homework activities, engage in positive conversations, communicate with their parents regarding needs and behaviors, have provided research in resources that could benefit Keaton and their family deal with his special needs and most importantly I have developed meaningful relationships with both kids to where they trust me, feel safe with me, and respect me. I also babysit for multiple other families in my community. These kids are all aged 3-16. With these different families I help with transportation, process emotions, school projects, carry out chores, play games with them, take them on walks, read to them, draw, and much more. During high school I worked at Electric Beach in Chickasha. I greeted customers, provided different recommendations for them, built relationships with the customers, resolved complaints, and maintained knowledge of daily sales, policies, and trained others. After graduation I went to work at Options Counseling in Chickasha where I am still currently employed at, I am the office secretary. My daily tasks include welcoming clients, keeping their information up to date, answering questions professionally, organizing each counselor’s schedule, answering the phone, and directing everyone to the counselor they fit best with.
My goal career is to be a counselor for children and teens who struggle with disabilities all the way from ADHD to substance abuse. I want to make a difference in the lives of our youth, giving them the opportunity to cope with and overcome the challenges they face. Not only do I want to assist them with skills, but I also want to believe in them and encourage them while they navigate through life.
At the end of my career, I would like to open my own practice for law enforcement officers. Assisting them in mental health and substance abuse counseling.
