At Sycamore Shoals, I conducted an interpretive program on the historic fort and its significance during the Revolutionary War. The program focused on the Overmountain Men, their courageous journey to the Battle of Kings Mountain, and the critical role the fort played in early American history. Visitors gained insights into 18th-century life and the park’s rich cultural heritage.
At Jacob’s Nature Park, I led an educational program on eastern bluebirds, exploring their nesting habits, preferred habitats, and the ongoing efforts to support their population. Through interactive discussions and birdwatching, visitors learned how to attract and support bluebirds, while contributing to local conservation efforts.
At Rocky Fork State Park, I developed and implemented a management plan for an all-terrain wheelchair program, aimed at increasing accessibility to the park’s trails and natural features. The plan involved identifying suitable trails, coordinating staff training, and creating guidelines for visitor use. This initiative enhanced the park’s commitment to inclusivity, allowing visitors of all abilities to experience the rugged beauty of the park.
As a trip leader for ETSU Outdoor Adventure, I organized and guided fly-fishing trips. Specifically, I led fly-fishing trips where participants learned the basics of casting, fly selection, and river safety. These trips fostered a connection to nature and provided students with a unique, hands-on outdoor recreation experience, while promoting environmental stewardship, and responsible fishing practices.
