Assisted with guide scheduling, training, and supervision. Served after hours as both primary and secondary communication with river guides in the field. Maintained employment files for forty to fifty river guides and warehouse employees. Tracked and updated the Online Launch Calendar (OLC) throughout the operational season. Oversaw warehouse operations, including rigging and derigging cycles. Maintained relationships with food and equipment vendors, and submitted and received orders. Repaired and maintained equipment year-round, including inflatable boats and other essential gear.
Worked seasonally in the off-season, primarily to patch, repair, and paint inflatable motor rigs in preparation for the upcoming river season. Also, kept the warehouse in order, including maintaining large and small first aid kits, satellite phones, and other essential equipment. Assisted with clerical tasks involving tables and spreadsheets. This position evolved over time from a support role to a supervisory role, then later to a managerial role in the spring of 2011.
Led and guided river trips for eleven seasons on the Green and Colorado Rivers. Initially, went through guide training in Desolation Canyon, then moved to Westwater and Cataract canyons. Earned a Grand Canyon guide license and began rowing and paddling inflatable rafts. Eventually became a proficient trip leader guiding motorized S-rigs through the Grand Canyon. Had the opportunity to guide a river trip on the Tatshenshini and lower Alsek rivers in Canada and southeast Alaska.
