I currently work as a Unit Supervisor at Patton State Hospital. I run a unit of 50 patients and 34 staff. I have also work in other disciplines within the hospital over the past 17 years. Some of my job duties include; hiring of new staff, chair on committees including statewide groups, implementing policy and procedures, procurement and allocation of program activities to assure treatment and achievement of program goals, liaison between level of care staff and clinical staff, time sheets and monitoring quality control and overall safety.
I worked as a veterinarian technician at this hospital for approximately 5 years prior to returning to school to become a Psychiatric Technician in 2006. Prior to this hospital I worked for Upland Animal Hospital for approximately 15 years. During my time as a veterinarian technician I assisted the doctors with treatment and surgical procedures, performed nursing care, laboratory testing, x-rays, dentistry, induction of anesthesia, filling medications, charting on the care of animals, indwelling catheter placement, IV fluid infusions, injections, giving oral medications to small animals and some exotics.
