Received “American Legion” award during my 8th grade Graduation.
During my 8th grade graduation ceremony, they had a special announcement to make at the end. They talked about how this person showed kindness and leadership all throughout the middle school years and was considered to be a key role model. I was happy for anyone who got this award until I heard my name and I was astonished. Everybody clapped, even my own mother was surprised because she heard I was a rather shy and quiet kid. It taught me that sometimes being a leader does not mean being out and about but, they also build in the shadow. Through small increments of work, skill, inspiration and dedication, can one truly be brought out into the spotlight.
