My name is Mackenzie Northern, and I’m a Biochemistry major at the University of Memphis, where I’m also a member of the Helen Hardin Honors College. I have a deep passion for pursuing a career in pediatrics because I want to make a lasting impact on children’s lives through compassionate, hands-on healthcare. I’m currently an active member of NOBCChE, which allows me to stay connected with the scientific community and continue growing academically. Outside of school, I’ve worked as a sales associate, cashier, and pizza maker—roles that have helped me meet a wide range of people and really improve my understanding of human behavior. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, communication, adaptability, and customer service, all of which have helped me grow personally and professionally as I work toward my goal of becoming a pediatrician.
