In 2014, I was nominated and received the Kamehameha Schools Native Hawaiian Educator of the year award for my work with the IMUA summer program at Waianae Intermediate School. Partnering with Kamehameha Schools we were able to create a summer program for 7th and 8th graders in Waianae to attend with the focus on math and college and career readiness.
