  • As the Unit Movement Officer (UMO) I coordinated movement planning guidance preparing recommendations as appropriate to enhance movement planning and execution
  • For all Annual training prepare and maintain movement plans that incorporate other units' movement requirements
  • Trained subordinates as alternate UMOs in the duties and responsibilities of movement planning
  • I used TC-AIMS II to consolidate the company UDLs and pass to the battalion UDL to the brigade
  • I also used TC-AIMS II to create military shipping labels (MSL) and automatic identification technology (AIT) tags and submit convoy documentation
  • Create air load plans using AALPS
  • Also to create commercial and military transportation documentation, in addition to the above duties, I was tasked with identifying, labeling, segregating, documenting, and moving hazardous materials (HAZMAT) peculiar to the unit

  • I also trained the Battalion and Brigade UMO's for tiger teams
  • These teams are responsible for ensuring units were ready to deploy and move equipment during their Annual training either by Rail or Convoy.

  • I Advised military and Department of Defense civilians of their entitlement for shipment of personal property and passenger travel and prepares the necessary documentation
  • Requests and coordinates transport capability to meet a movement mission
  • While marking and labeling cargo and freight shipments in accordance with regulatory requirements, conducted inventories of freight cargo, and materiel shipments of all types; operated automated data terminal equipment to prepare movement documentation or related correspondence
  • Arranged documentation and reports for follow-up or response to tracer actions and prepared transportation movements documents and related forms for the type of shipment and mode of travel; performed office duties such as posting regulations, files maintenance, and routine office correspondence
  • Supervised and gave technical guidance to subordinates
  • I researched, interpreted, prepared, and coordinated actions pertaining to travel entitlement

  • As the movements NCO assigned to the largest forward deployed Army Transportation Group comprised of one HET Battalion, one Medium Truck Battalion and one Infantry Battalion of greater than 3,000 soldiers, and 2,000 trucks; Group Front haul Manager tasked to track
  • Manage, and report the movement positions of over 40 convoys per day accomplishing over 10,000,000 tactical miles
  • I was also responsible for load planning convoys, and tracked all convoy movements using Blue Force Tracker (BFT),Battle Command Sustainment Support System (BCS3), GATES, IGC, and the RF-ITV portal
  • Ensuring the accuracy of bills of lading, scheduling and securing modes of transportation of personnel and equipment
  • To include advising military and Department of Defense civilians of their entitlement for shipment of personal property and passenger travel, requesting and coordinating transport capability to meet missions

  • I also lead teams in the researching, interpreting, preparing and coordinating actions pertaining to convoy's movements into Iraq, identifying and reporting problem areas within the traffic management area of operations I was able to de conflict movement issues leading to one of the largest and most successful moves during the Iraq surge campaign.
