Summary

I have worked at Miller Electric for 30 years, and in that time frame I've had the opportunity to learn many things and work in different areas of the company. From assembly, logistics, service operator, sales department and main receptionist. I retired in 2019. I started in the Kimberly School District in the fall of 2019 as a food service worker and the following year I was the kitchen manager. In 2023 I accepted the Catering manager position. Over the years I've worked part time jobs in the food industry. Spats, PAC, The Wave, Appleton Medical.

  • In March of 1989 I started as a temp employee in the Solid State division on the slide line assembling printed circuit boards.
  • In April 1989 I applied for a full time second shift auto insertion machine operator.
  • I was responsible for two different machines.
  • In 1990 I returned to first shift on the slide line.
  • I was also trained in the pre assembly and final assembly areas.
  • I was certified in hand soldering for these positions.
  • In September of 1999 I applied for and was chosen for the front desk receptionist position.
  • I was first person contact for visitors, vendors and calls coming into Miller Electric.
  • I answered anywhere from 700-800 calls a day and connected them to the correct location within Miller.
  • I greeted visitors, vendors and customers.
  • I was also responsible for sending invoices to customers for our service parts department.
  • I initiated a system for security and the safety of the front desk workers before Miller had locked doors and a system in place for emergencies.
  • I would also fill in for the Machine sales area taking calls from distributors and customers for sales and recommendations.
  • In 2005 I worked on the service phones and part time helping the Logistic department.
  • In 2006 I started full time in the Logistic department.
  • I handled freight issues, freight damage, special freight shipments, filing and coding all invoices for freight companies, domestic and international.
  • In 2010 I returned to the plant floor in the Advance Tech business unit.
  • In this role I assembled the inverter welders from start to finish, with the exception of testing and programming the welder.
  • I was involved in weekly cycle counts, daily material ordering and training new employees.
  • In 2014 I volunteered to start up and work with a second shift team.
  • Three months after the team was established a posting went out for line leader, I applied and excepted the position.
  • In this role I was responsible for a team of ten employees.
  • I Ensured all employees adhered to Miller Electric and ITW policies, nightly production runs, keeping the team on track for quality and efficiencies, train employees, cycle counts, material ordering, participated in Employee involvement program, 5s, quality audits.
  • In 2018 I transitioned back to first shift in the IE north on the Continuum and Dimension line.
  • In April 2019 after 30 years of service I retired from Miller Electric.

Personal Information

Hobbies: My time off away from work I enjoy playing with my dogs. Volunteering at animal shelters. I also foster dogs for the Waupaca county humane society and Last paws rescue. I volunteer at Appleton Alliance as a greeter and just started getting involved with the local homeless shelters. After spending 30 years in manufacturing I am looking for a change in careers to care for individuals.
