Accomplishments

17 yrs in the AZ dept of corrections I was on TSU and completed the TSU academy. While on TSU we trained to clear buildings and conduct crowd control. We also worked closely with the k9 unit and trained with them. We would train monthly with the handlers, wearing the bite suit and learning how to handle the dogs. We were trained to be efficient in firearms. The firearms included were the glock 19, Remington shot gun, Ar15 and grenade launchers.

I was also on the chase team where I learned to track escaped inmates and handle the hounds, to track the escaped inmates.

I was a self defense instructor and fire arms instructor. I instructed these classes for new cadets and current staff members.

When I promoted to Sgt. I was a supervisor of over 20 officers and supervised over 200 inmates. I was a shift supervisor for 2 yrs. I then moved to disciplinary Sgt. Where I held inmates accountable for, violating the rules and policies. I was disciplinary for a little over 1 yr.

When I left disciplinary I moved to SGT of SSU (Special Security Unit) I supervised 1 officer. Our main task in SSU, was to collect intel on the yard to ensure a safe and secure unit and share that intel with admin and other units. We also investigated the introduction of contraband into the facility and inapropriate staff relations with inmates. In my 2 yrs as SSU Sgt we completed many investigations on inmate drug and cellphone usages. We completed 1 investigation on staff for inappropriate relationship with a inmate.

In my 17 yrs as a correctional officer, I learned many aspects of the job. From security, report writing and investigations.
