General Duties Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: A. Installs, removes, rearranges, programs, tests, troubleshoots and maintains fiber network services. B. Installs and configures routers, set top boxes. May assist with installation of PC software as needed and ensure proper configuration of the customer's PC. Interacts with the Fiber Solution Center as needed. May install appropriate inside wire/cable (such as Cat 5E, Coaxial cable). C. Installs, maintains and repairs outside and inside fiber equipment/facilities including inside wiring and fiber jumpers at the distribution hub. Activates the ONT. D. Interfaces with customer to negotiate the placement of equipment, may assist with account registration, e-mail, and web access, and training the customer on how to use the new equipment. Ensures the customer is satisfied with the work that has been done. Responds to inquiries and provides follow-up. E. Interprets schematic work order drawings to determine job specifications and installation needs. Orders and/or obtains required equipment. Effects problem solving where appropriate. F. Utilizes various test equipment to analyze equipment trouble and takes appropriate maintenance action

As a telecom technician I performs tasks necessary for service order and repair activity associated with sealed/ unseated network facilities (copper and fiber) from central office frames to CPE systems. Provide installation and maintenance of voice, data, and ancillary equipment, and network services. Installs, maintains, rearranges, repairs and removes cables, terminals and other associated apparatus in the outside and inside plant network. Performs other duties as required.

  • Operates standard and aerial lift vehicles and manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, electronic, gasoline, propane and power actuated tools and equipment
