I was responsible for managing the switchboard by answering all incoming calls and forwarding them to the appropriate departments, or assisting the caller with the information they requested. I also monitored the fire, code blue, and various other alarms and made overhead announcements as needed. I was responsible for calling in the surgery team and on-call employees when directed by the nursing supervisor.

I was responsible for registering emergency room patients, and entering their demographic and insurance information into the computer, as well as collecting co-pays. I also admitted patients to the floor as directed by the nursing staff, and acquired the necessary signatures on paperwork.

I was responsible for reviewing inpatient medical charts and assigning the appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for billing purposes.
