I have so much experience working with children of many ages and backgrounds as well as learning styles. I am the oldest of 5 children and helped with raising my siblings. I always have enjoyed being with and helping children. I got my teaching degree from Washburn University and soon after was employed as a teacher. I spent three years at Highland Park Central Elementary as a Kindergarten, 5th, and 4th grade teacher. I then chose to stay home and raise my two children while also operating a daycare out of my home. This taught me so much about the birth-preschool ages. I then chose to homeschool my own children and was able to collaborate with many other parents and teachers in co-ops. When my kids went to school at Seaman I decided to work as a para professional in a special education classroom with mostly autistic and nonverbal students. This was a huge learning experience for me and I excelled in the position. Once we moved to Valley Falls and the kids started school I began substituting at the school. I spent many days in the preschool classroom and found that I had many skills that would help me become a good teacher for them. I decided to apply for the position after a few other colleagues suggested it. I am hopeful that I would make a great preschool teacher at Valley Falls Elementary.
