- You must comply with the following safety rules while working for the company: your job duties you must contact your company representative if:
- You are asked to perform tasks that are different from those described to you by the company at the time you were placed on the assignment
- You have received instructions or an explanation that you don’t understand
- You are asked to perform any tasks that you are not permitted to perform
- You are not permitted to perform certain tasks, such as:
- Using a saw
- Using equipment with a lock or tag (e.g., certain electrical work)
- Performing machine repairs, troubleshooting or maintenance
- Using any machinery/equipment until you have been trained and certified (if applicable) to do so
- Using a powered industrial truck without prior approval from the company
- Using ladders or scaffolding to work over three feet above the ground
- Working at heights more than three feet above the ground without proper railings
- Working at depths more than three feet below the ground (e.g., trench work)
- Lifting anything that weighs more than 50 pounds by yourself or without a tool such as a pallet jack
- Driving for a work-related purpose without prior approval from the company
- Performing tasks requiring a respirator (e.g., due to toxic dust) without prior approval from the company
- Entering an area marked by a sign indicating “confined space” or “permit confined space” be “safety conscious” while working wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing at all times
- Your company representative will inform you of any PPE requirements for your assignment
- Ask your onsite manager if you don’t know how or when to wear it
- Be familiar with the fire exits and evacuation procedures at the site where you are working
- In an emergency, leave the site immediately and go to the designated rally point
- Do not try to fight a fire that is spreading or threatening to block your escape
- Be familiar with any applicable emergency equipment at the site where you are working
- Ask your onsite manager if you do not know how to use, or where to find, applicable safety equipment such as safety showers, eye washes, fire extinguishers and alarm pull stations
- If you are unsure about how to safely perform a task, ask your onsite manager for help before performing it
- If a disability is interfering with your ability to safely perform a task, contact your company representative to seek a reasonable accommodation
- Follow the company’s drug and alcohol policy by not reporting to work impaired
- Drug and/or alcohol tests may be conducted upon reasonable suspicion and after incidents

- You have any safety concerns at the site, including workplace violence or threats of violence
- You observe any unsafe conditions or acts at the site
- If a client’s work environment is unsafe, we will support your right to safety in the workplace and find a different work assignment for you if necessary
- Report incidents and injuries immediately report all incidents and injuries to your company representative and onsite manager
- Reporting is required regardless of whether you seek or require medical treatment or if the injury initially seems minor
- If you are injured and require medical attention:
- Call 911 if it is an emergency (e.g., life threatening, severe injuries)
- If it is not an emergency, you must contact your company representative or site supervisor and proceed to call Randstad’s nurse triage hotline at 855-921-9503 to speak to a nurse
- The nurse will provide medical guidance and refer you to the appropriate medical facility for treatment
- Keep your company representative informed of your return-to-work status
- If incidents or injuries occur after regular business hours, you may call our nurse hotline number at 855-921-and then, during regular business hours, notify your company representative
- In addition to the safety rules described above, we ask that you follow these safety guidelines to help avoid incidents or injuries: maintain focus and do not become distracted (including by smartphones)
- If you or someone near you is injured, only trained personnel should provide first aid
- Avoid strains by moving closer to objects rather than reaching for them
- Practice these proper lifting techniques:
- Stand close to the item you’re lifting, with your feet eight to 12 inches apart and one foot slightly in front of the other
- Keep your back straight, knees bent and lift using leg muscles rather than your back
- Look up before lifting
- Don’t twist your body if you have to change direction
- Instead, turn your feet
- Avoid trips and falls by:
- Wearing slip-resistant shoes
- Not carrying loads that block or limit your vision
- Not walking or stepping on debris or pallets
- Not running
- Ensuring that spills are promptly cleaned up
- Maintaining a clean workspace
- Using sand or melting materials in the event of snow or ice when using sharp instruments like knives or scissors:
- Wear gloves if possible
- Steady the object before making a cut
- Always cut away from your body
- Keep your free hand away from the knife
- Use instruments with a sharp blade
- Handle hazardous chemicals with extreme care
- Read the safety data sheet before using any hazardous chemical
- Ask your onsite manager if you are unfamiliar with the site’s hazardous chemicals program
- If a task could be performed more safely with protective equipment, use it
- Immediately report any spills or incidents to the onsite manager
- Don’t attempt to clean up such spills yourself
- Don’t allow bare skin to come into contact with hazardous chemicals
- For example, don’t allow skin to contact gloves used while handling such chemicals
- If skin does come into contact, shower or wash with water right away
- Randstad strictly prohibits any retaliation against any person who reports a workplace hazard, incident or injury or who makes a complaint, opposes a practice, provides information, cooperates in an investigation, participates in a proceeding or otherwise engages in protected activity concerning an actual or perceived workplace health and safety concern
