I have approximately 4–5 years of experience working in the substance use treatment field. Throughout my time in treatment, I have developed strong relationships with clients, and I take pride in being someone they feel comfortable communicating with and coming to for support. I work hard to provide guidance, structure, and practical support while helping clients build the skills they need for successful recovery.
A major part of my responsibilities includes maintaining Kipu compliance and ensuring that required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner. I am responsible for keeping up with documentation, group notes, client notes, assessments, and other required information to help ensure the facility remains compliant with program and documentation standards.
I am also responsible for many of the day-to-day operational needs of the facility. This includes food ordering, meal planning, organizing groceries, monitoring food supplies, and making sure clients have appropriate and nutritious meals. I help plan meals, prepare food, organize the kitchen, and make sure food is stored properly and supplies are available when needed.
In addition to my treatment responsibilities, I assist with facility maintenance and upkeep. I help ensure the houses remain clean, organized, stocked, and in good working condition. I address maintenance needs when they arise and help make sure the living environment is safe, comfortable, and appropriate for clients.
I also focus on teaching clients practical life skills, maintenance skills, responsibility, problem-solving, communication, and everyday common sense. I believe recovery is not only about staying sober but also about learning how to manage everyday responsibilities and become more independent. I take pride in going beyond the basic responsibilities of my position and helping clients develop skills they can use in their daily lives and after treatment.

I was honored to receive the Second Quarter Award at South Coast Behavioral Health in recognition of my professionalism, dedication, and ability to remain calm and productive during tense and challenging situations. One example that demonstrated my problem-solving skills occurred on a day when we were short staffed. Despite the staffing challenges, I remained focused on making sure the clients’ needs were met and that the daily schedule continued without interruption.
On that day, I safely loaded six clients into the company van, transported them as needed, and ran the scheduled group using my phone so that programming could continue. I also transported three different clients to their individual appointments while coordinating transportation and making sure everyone was accounted for. After completing the appointments, I successfully picked up all clients and returned everyone safely to the facility before shift change.
This experience demonstrated my ability to multitask, prioritize client needs, think on my feet, and remain professional under pressure. I take pride in being dependable and willing to step up when the team needs additional support. Receiving the Second Quarter Award was meaningful to me because it recognized the commitment, flexibility, and problem-solving skills I bring to my role every day.
