Summary

I have been an acute care nurse for over 20 years. I began my career in cardiac stepdown areas then transitioned into critical care. I have worked as both a staff nurse and a travel nurse in a variety of settings. I have developed great skill in adjusting to different policies and procedures while at the same time perfecting my nursing and critical thinking skills. As I transitioned into my role in CCU/MICU at Hunter Holmes Mcguire VA Medical center I expanded my role as a staff nurse to include becoming an off tour stroke champion assisting the facility stroke coordinator in providing education to night shift staff facility wide. As clinical coordinator I continue to work closely with the facility stroke coordinator to ensure all ICU nursing staff maintains competency in the NTSP protocols including TPA administration. I respond to all off tour code stroke alerts accompanying new staff nurses and often new physicians guiding them in the NTSP policy for the VA.
