  • As an USDA/CACFP clerk I was responsible for monitoring each of the 3 facilities located onboard Naval Station Great Lakes and 1 youth facility located in Glenview IL for quality assurance of the food program. Each month I observe the meals being served to the children at all CYP facilities at Naval Station Great Lakes and Glenview. Through monitoring of all facilities, I had to ensure that all components are being met, and the staff and management are following CYP/CACFP guidelines. My duties consist of record keeping, billing, profit and loss reporting, accounts payable, account receivable and staff training as well as making sure that state paperwork has been completed and turned in on time. I made sure that the vendors that we used stayed in compliance with the contracts that we had on file with them as well as making sure new contract were submitted on time so that we could continue all business relationships without any breaks in service.

While on Sea Duty, Culinary Specialists work in kitchens, dining areas, living quarters and storerooms where food supplies are kept. As a CS was also responsible for keeping records for food supplies and financial budgets.
