- Job responsibilities also included interacting with the general public, beach cleaning, organizing the lifeguard tower and beach shack, running supplies to the main building, and maintaining all equipment
- In addition, Charlie had to pass a health test, water swim test, and report to work rain, shine, wind, or storms.

- Ditch Plains is a fun longboard wave and clients enjoyed surfing with Charlie to gain the basics of surfing, learning to read waves and wave choice
- Combining lifeguard skills and surf skills was a natural choice that clients always had fun and felt safe with Charlie.
