Moses Gato, AS | Health Science Professional
My name is Moses Gato, and I am passionate about healthcare and dedicated to making a difference in the field of healthcare administration. I was born and raised in Uganda, where my life took an unexpected turn when I lost my father in 2007. At a young age, I stepped up to support my family, which led us to join the UN Refugee program in 2009. After five years, we were fortunate to be selected for resettlement in the United States in 2014, an opportunity that I saw as a second chance at life.
When I first arrived, I didn’t know any English, but through hard work and determination, I started school in 8th grade and eventually graduated high school with a 3.5 GPA, earning honors and making the principal's list all four years. I was awarded the Johnie Ruth Clarke Scholarship, which covered my tuition at St. Petersburg College, where I completed my Associate in Science degree.
Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science at the University of South Florida, with a focus on Healthcare Administration. While studying, I have gained valuable experience working as a part-time bank teller and interning at Baycare Outpatient Center, where I’ve learned firsthand about healthcare operations and patient care.
Beyond my academic and professional journey, I take pride in being a mentor and father figure to my siblings, guiding them as we continue to grow together. My story is one of resilience, and I am driven by a commitment to improving healthcare systems and creating positive change in my community.
