1. Responsible for assessment of patients, pre, intra, and post operatively.
2. Ensure that the OR has all equipment and tools necessary to complete the case effectively.
3. Assist Anesthesiologist with the induction of Anesthesia.
4. Complete computer documentation of procedure, staff, implants, sponge/needle counts, and specimens.
5. Give OR report to the recovery room nurse at the end of the case, or recover the patient.
6. Sign patients in before surgery which includes giving discharge instructions to patient and family, having consents signed for care, and confirm pertinent medical information.
7. If working preop, responsible for gathering information, performing tests like blood glucose and pregnancy, administer dilating eye drops and start an IV for anesthesia.
8. If working PACU, retrieve vitals signs, give water, monitor vital signs for 30 minutes and give discharge instructions again.
