  • Internal medicine Residency, HMC- IM residency, Doha, Qatar, 09/2012, 06/2016, 70, Dr. Ahmad Al Mohammad, syoosuf@hamad.qa, +97444392487, HMC is an Acgme-I and JCI accredited health system and health partner of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. Internal medicine is a structured program in which residents are trained in such a way that they acquire six competencies of Acgme by the end of three years. As an Intern I had 7-10 patients under my service. I used to take the patient histories, perform physical exam and follow plans given by attending. I learned how to manage variety of medical problems like COPD, congestive heart failure, multiple sclerosis, and Diabetic ketoacidosis. During my second and third year I rotated through Micu, Ccu, Gi, Nephrology, Neurology, Hema/oncology. I performed procedures like lumbar puncture, pleural/ascitic tapping, endotracheal intubation and central venous Cath placement under supervision. I learned how to manage cases of sepsis, heart failure, aplastic anemia, stroke and movement disorders etc., I had one fixed ambulatory clinic/week. During the fourth year of the Residency which is required to meet the needs of Local 'Arab Board', I worked as Acting Specialist/Pgy-4/Junior Attending, from 07/2015-06/2016. My Primary responsibility was to lead a Medical team of junior residents (Pgy1-3) as well as interns. At any given time, we usually have 15-25 patients under our care. My responsibility was to teach the resident Comprehensive History taking and physical exam, and to devise complete management plans, and to do trouble shooting during the rounds. I was Chief of the admitting team on the call day. I accepted patients from emergency and gave initial orders for the diagnostic tests and management.
