Work History

Server

Country Club of Tupelo
Tupelo , MS
05.2022 - 08.2022

This was a seasonal job I partook in during my break from university. I was a server at the local country club. It was definitely a new experience for me because I am usually not around the rich and "high class" of society so it was almost a new world for me in its own. I was taught a lot about fine dining, and how to properly present foods and wines to the tables. I was also put behind the bar for a little bit, but I have no major experience in mixing cocktails. I just try to find my use wherever I can. I enjoy helping my colleagues in any way I can. We would set up and host various events, such as big work parties, casual lunches, Sunday buffets, etc. I was only here for a very brief time, but I was enlightened on so many things I did not know previously.

  • Explained menu items, describing ingredients and cooking methods upon request.
  • Satisfied customers by topping off drinks and offering condiments, napkins and other items.
  • Stayed informed about daily specials, new menu items, promotions.
  • Trained new employees to perform duties.
  • Prepared checks, itemizing total meal costs and taxes.
  • Explained menu options to guests, offered suggestions and took orders for food and beverages.
  • Checked identification to verify if guests meet minimum age to legally purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.

Paint Sales Associate

Sherwin-Williams Paint Store
Tupelo, MS
01.2018 - 01.2021

As a Paint Sales Associate, I learned a lot about paint overall, how to perform better with customers, and how to satisfy their needs to the best of my abilities. I was fortunate enough to work with amazing, patient people who taught me a lot throughout the years. I was given a key to the store after a year of working there and was opening and closing the store by myself for the majority of my time working at Sherwin-Williams. My main tasks were assisting customers, putting up the paint stock in the warehouse, delivery driving our paint to other businesses, opening and closing the shop, taking the deposits to the bank after closing, and maintaining a clean work environment. It was definitely one of the first jobs that gave me a lot of responsibility, and I appreciated the trust they put in me. Just to highlight a few of the things.

  • Described merchandise and explained use, operation and care.
  • Provided information on the various types of paints available and their associated features, benefits, and costs.
  • Educated customers on safety precautions when handling hazardous materials such as paint thinner.
  • Trained new employees on proper customer service techniques and product knowledge.
  • Resolved customer complaints quickly and efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude.

Cook, Server, Delivery Driver

Bim Bam Burger
Tupelo , MS
02.2016 - 11.2017

This was my second job at a local restaurant. This was my introduction to the food industry, and it was a lot, needless to say. I had to catch on really quickly to be useful, but I do not mind the challenge. I started out simply helping to make small side dishes and delivering orders. After a while, I started helping in the kitchen more and became closer with the kitchen staff. After a while, I just remained in the kitchen, helping with orders and helping to serve when there were not enough servers.

  • Maintained a clean working environment by sweeping, mopping floors, washing surfaces and emptying trash cans.
  • Operated ovens, fryers and mixers safely to prevent kitchen accidents and machinery malfunction.
  • Communicated effectively with other staff members about any issues related to food service operations.
  • Performed workstation prep prior to shift start.

As a server I

  • Handled money transactions accurately while following company procedures for handling cash payments.
  • Assisted in training new servers.
  • Collaborated with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders.
  • Set up tables in between patrons to reduce wait times.

As a Delivery Driver I

  • Loaded, secured, and unloaded cargo in a safe and timely manner.
  • Drove vehicles safely, obeying traffic laws and transportation procedures to avoid accidents.
  • Transported and safely delivered items to prevent damage or loss.

Roller Skate Employee

Skate Zone of Tupelo
Tupelo , MS
02.2014 - 02.2016

This was my first job, and it was definitely a lot of fun. I was 16 at the time, and I would always come here as a kid, so I already knew everyone and everything there was to know. I initially started out as the person who would hand you your roller skates, but over time they began to trust me with more tasks. After a while, I was taught how to fix and maintain the arcade machines, and how to operate a Zamboni to clean the floor after Friday nights. I learned how to fix and repair roller skates. It was a very easy, beginner job that taught me a lot about customer service, and how to be responsible within a business. I also worked with some really fun people, and they were a lot of fun to be around, which made it all the better.

  • Operated and maintained the zamboni to ensure a clean and smooth rink surface.
  • Assisted customers with skate rentals and ensured equipment safety.
  • Maintained cleanliness and organization of the rink area.
  • Provided excellent customer service to enhance the skating experience.

As I have stated before I began working at the Roller Skating Rink and that stems back to an early hobby of mine of roller skating. I played Baseball throughout majority of my childhood so I was a very active kid. I have always enjoyed being active and doing things that require some skill to be good at it. For example my current hobby is fire performing. My biggest passion though has to be the Italian language. I fell in love with Italy when I was a little kid and have always dreamt of living there one day.

Study Abroad Experience

  • I was able to study abroad in Florence, Italy for 3 months within a program called CEA. The course i took focused on the food, culture and wine aspect of the country. The school was right in the middle of piazza della repubblica and It was nothing short of a perfect dream. I was able to finally immerse myself in the place I have been wanting to live for years. I was able to talk with local Italians and experience life in a different manner. During my brief stint I was able to travel around to other cities such as Turin, Milan, Positano and Salerno. Ever since I have returned to America I have dreamt about returning as a working member of the country.
