Yanrong (Jason) Zhang

Currently, an NYU undergraduate student who is fully committed to working in the industry to understand every position in a restaurant, hotel, or catering, majoring in hospitality. I have worked at COTE, a high-end Michelin one-star Korean Steakhouse before as a host in 2023 summer. I learned and understood all the responsibilities of a host. I believe that with my experience, I will adapt to the work environment and restaurant setting in a very short period of time. Also, the courses that I took at NYU taught me both textbook and real-life versions of how to interact with different kinds of customers, and co-workers, and how to react to a crisis when there is one. Overall, I believe I am well qualified for this position.

• Transporter, Tianjin, China, ZangShiNian, 10/2018, 12/2018, It is a nonprofit organization that helps people and kids in Tibet. Tibet is a far northwest province in China. The condition is horrible both environmentally and economically. I travel with this organization there, driving from my city Tianjin to transport all the supplies they might need for their living.
• Animal Caretaker, Healesville Sanctuary, Australia, Ross School Field Academy Trip, 03/2020, 03/2020, This trip was right after the big wildfire that happened in Australia. My high school planned a trip to go there and helped out the locals and the animals that were affected by this big fire. My job was taking care of the animals that were injured. Basically, I helped the doctor to prepare animal food according to the list they gave me. I also helped out the hospital to move supplies from place to place.
• Guest Check-in & Back Of House, New York, New York, Xavier Mission, 09/2021, 01/2022, It was about giving food and needs to the low-income people who live in Manhattan. I have done it many times, so I tried different jobs. I was at the "front desk", and my job was checking all the necessary information (like ID, # of households...) in order to see if they were qualified for it, then I signed them in on a laptop. I was also at the "food-giving desk" as well, and it was very simple. They would give me a list and I check how much of each food they can get depending on # of household, then I give them the supplies. Another one is that during last year's Thanksgiving, I helped out cleaning the turkeys for them for the Thanksgiving events as well.
• Event Support & Logistics Volunteer, New York City, NY, New York City Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF) / God’s Love We Deliver, 10/2024
  Supported chefs and vendors by helping transport goods and supplies between stands during the event. Assisted with chef load-ins, event setup, and ensuring each station had what they needed for smooth operations. Gained hands-on experience in event logistics while contributing to a charity-focused culinary festival.
